The Israeli Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor recently approved a 1 billion NIS award for Intel. In return, Intel is expected to expand its lab in Kiryat Gat, as well as build a new assembly plant in Northern Israel.
In order to be eligible for this award, Intel will be required to employ 1,500 new employees in its Kiryat Gat lab, as well as hire 1000 new employees in its northern facility. Intel's expected total investment in these projects is over 5 billion NIS.
According to the Law for the Encouragement of Capital Investment, Intel will also be entitled to the tax breaks and will be the first company in Israel to gain the status of a preferred enterprise. Intel's heavy investment in Israel indicates strength in Israel's future economic growth.
